ShiftCam’s New SnapSeries are Accessories for Its iPhone SnapGrip System

ShiftCam is developing a new set of accessories for its SnapGrip mobile photography grips that it’s calling “SnapSeries” as part of an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The idea is to take the SnapGrip and SnapGrip Pro, which both utilize MagSafe, and broaden the scope of what the grips can do when paired with the new gear.

The new SnapSeries rollout includes an updated SnapGrip Pro with Qi2 wireless charging, charging a compatible iPhone with 15W of power. ShiftCam says the Pro’s own battery is 58% larger than the SnapGrip Classic. Otherwise, the SnapGrip Pro functions the same way as it always has, including the same grip design, shutter button, and Bluetooth connection. There don’t appear to be any new color variants with stone and midnight remaining the two options.

New accessories in the system include the SnapStudio Light, which ShiftCam says is 38% smaller than a regular ring light. It includes color temperature and brightness controls and outputs 440 lumens on battery or 600 lumens when plugged into a USB-C power source.

There are also a trio of stands to add some height and stability to photos or video. The SnapStand Mini is the shortest at 8-inches high, while the SnapStand Selfie extends out to 10-inches (2.5 ft.), and SnapStand Max extends from 1.5 ft – 6 ft with a foldable head and magnetic snap. All come in the same stone and midnight color variants the SnapGrip Pro does.

When you include existing Snap accessories, like the SnapPod, SnapLight, SnapShoe, and Snap SSD, ShiftCam says there will be nine interchangeable pieces in the SnapSeries ecosystem. Since they all use MagSafe on both sides, they can also stack over each other, meaning you can use one of the stands and ring lights with the SnapGrip or SnapGrip Pro.

The company is targeting vloggers who don’t want to carry cumbersome gear around while out in the field. SnapSeries gear could theoretically work with other accessories supporting MagSafe as well, so a SnapGrip isn’t required to use them. Neither is an iPhone if you have a case for your Android phone, like the Everyday Case from Peak Design. ShiftCam will include a magnetic sticker for non-MagSafe devices as well.

The Indiegogo campaign launched today and the company expects to ship to backers beginning in September. The accessories offered start at $94 for just the mobile battery grip and can go as high as $352 if backers want every accessory offered.
