ProGrade Digital’s New Memory Cards Give Users Speed and Space
ProGrade Digital announced six new products meant to help creators speed up their workflows without sacrificing space.
Memory tech company ProGrade Digital has several CFexpress memory cards to appeal to creators with varying needs.
First up is the CFexpress 4.0 Type A Iridium memory card, which has a solid maximum read speed of up to 1,800 MB/s and a sustained write speed of up to 1,450 MB/s. It also has a burst write speed of up to 1,700 MB/s, is VPG 200 rated (meaning it’ll never drop below 200 MB/s speeds), and is Refresh Pro ready. It comes in 480GB and 960GB, which sell for $480 and $680, respectively.
The CFexpress 4.0 Type B Iridium memory cards pack even more power, with a maximum read speed clocking in up to a whopping 3,550 MB/s. Plus, it has a burst write speed of up to 3,000 MB/s and a sustained write speed of up to 1,500 MB/s. This memory card is rated VPG 400, so it’s guaranteed to never dip below 400 MB/s and is similarly Refresh Pro ready. ProGrade Digital’s Type B offerings come in three sizes, 400GB, 800GB, and 1.6TB, which sell for $230, $450, and $950, respectively.
A third CFexpress memory card provides a great alternative to the Type B Iridium offering, providing speed with less capacity at a more affordable price point. ProGrade Digital’s CFexpress 4.0 Type B Gold 256GB memory card has a read speed of up to 3,400 MB/s, a write speed of up to 3,000 MB/s, and a minimum sustained write speed of 850 MB/s. It’s also Refresh Pro ready, but its smaller size means it retails for $170, lower than any of the other new products.
In a similar vein, ProGrade Digital just launched a new microSD card this week. The microSDXC V60 512GB memory card has a max read speed of up to 250 MB/s, a burst write speed of up to 130 MB/s, and a minimum sustained write speed of 60 MB/s. This sells for $166, so unless using a microSD card is a must, it’s likely better to stick with the CFexpress Type B Gold memory card.
To complete the ProGrade Digital memory lineup, the company also launched its CFexpress Type A Single Slot USB 4.0 reader. It boasts transfer rates of up to 40 Gb/s and comes with a USB 4.0 certified cable and an improved heat sink plate for extra cooling capability. The reader sells for $100.
But ProGrade Digital’s final product moves away from gear, instead providing a software solution. Ingest Pro “incorporates functionality from Refresh Pro, which enables you to sanitize ProGrade Digital memory cards to ensure they are ready for re-use in the capture environment and monitor the health of the card,” according to a release from ProGrade Digital.
