LumaTouch announced version 5.0 of the mobile video editing app LumaFusion which adds enhanced keyframing and speed ramping as well as a host of other updates.

LumaFusion 5.0 brings dozens of new transitions, an adjustable UI in Effects Editors for customizing the size of preview, presets, and settings windows, allows editors to switch preview to the right side of the clip editor, and has an improved “what’s happening” panel that lets users find new tutorials, updates, and information about LumaFusion. The featured updates are, however, the addition of enhanced keyframing and speed ramping. These additions have been designed specifically for touchscreens and add several capabilities to the editor.

LumaTouch says that for speed ramping, keyframing allows editors to create perfect speed ramps quickly and easily. It also allows them to freeze clips exactly where it needs to be and new speed presets are designed to deliver great results immediately. LumaFusion also has a Bézier curve path editor that the company says delivers easy, powerful motion for videos, images, and effects.

The keyframing tools also provide the ability to set constant speed, variable speeds, and holds between keyframes, bring new ease in and ease out presets, and the addition of Velocity and Ease graphs allow users to see exactly how these controls affect animations. LumaTouch says that keyframes can be easily moved using a press-and-hold-to-drag interface and nudge buttons allow for precise adjustments thereafter.

The update also brings new motion presets, independent size, position, and rotation controls that can be unlinked for more control over keyframe animations, and preview zoom and position are now possible to allow for zooming in and out of the preview workspace to focus precisely where needed.

In addition to these updates, LumaTouch has released a statement about the use of AI:

“In an era in which the software industry is rushing to integrate and monetize AI and GenerativeAI capabilities into their offerings, LumaTouch is careful to integrate only AI features that streamline non-creative workflow processes, such as ethically-sourced, on-device AI features like voice isolation,” it says. “The Company is steadfast in its support for the Creator Community and continues to focus on building an experience that enhances and empowers the storytellers and creators, rather than replacing them.”

LumaFusion 5.0 is available immediately as a free update for existing customers and enhanced keyframing and speed ramping are available as a single, one-time in-app purchase for both features and are priced at $19.99.
